Hi, I’m Gary Huhn
Helping small-town businesses get found online and stay in business.
My Story
I was raised in a hardworking family that believed in showing up, doing your best, and treating people right. When I wasn’t helping out or learning those lessons, I was usually outside skateboarding, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, riding BMX bikes, or heading out on backpacking, hiking, and camping trips.
After graduating from San Diego State University, I stayed in San Diego to pursue a career in digital marketing. Back then, the internet looked a lot different, but one thing was clear even then: if you could help businesses get found online, you could change lives.
Over the next 20 years, I built a career in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and helped companies of all sizes grow their visibility online. I worked with brands such as Wells Fargo, Nordstrom, DirecTV, Hewlett-Packard, Workday, Honeywell, Delta Faucets, the American Red Cross, Workday and Cargill. Those experiences taught me how powerful SEO can be when it is done right and how important it is to deliver on what you promise.
Life in Roseburg
Six years ago, I traded the noise of Southern California for the beauty and quiet of Roseburg, Oregon. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Here, I have found community, purpose, and a chance to make a real difference. I own and operate a vacation home in Roseburg that is listed on Airbnb and VRBO and cohost several others in the area. I also run a local SEO and digital marketing agency called âlyft that focuses entirely on helping small businesses in Douglas County compete and grow.
I’m an active member of the Sutherlin Chamber of Commerce and the Winston Area Chamber of Commerce, and I stay connected in my field through the American Marketing Association and the International Association of Digital Marketing Professionals.
When I am not working, you will find me outdoors or in the gym. Living with celiac disease has made me deeply passionate about healthy living. Fitness, meditation, and yoga are non-negotiables in my day. They keep me balanced mentally and physically, and they remind me that consistency always wins.
Why I Started the Roseburg Reader
After talking with dozens of local business owners, I realized something important. Most small businesses in Roseburg are doing their best, but many are flying blind when it comes to marketing.
A lot of folks still rely on Facebook as their website, and many do not even know where to start when it comes to showing up on Google. I have seen too many great businesses close their doors simply because people could not find them online.
That is why I created the Roseburg Reader. It is a local newsletter and resource hub that helps small-town businesses learn how to market smarter. My goal is to make marketing approachable, simple, and useful for local business owners who are too busy running their business to figure out digital marketing jargon.
I share insights, strategies, and local success stories that show how online visibility can translate into real-world results such as more calls, more leads, and more time to focus on what really matters.
My Mission
I believe small-town businesses deserve the same marketing power as big brands without the confusion, empty promises, or overpriced retainers.
I have seen too many agencies overcharge and underdeliver. That is not how I operate. My approach is simple. Be honest, do great work, and make a real impact.
If you are a small business owner in Roseburg who has been burned before, I understand. My goal is not just to sell services. It is to earn your trust and help your business grow for the long term.
Let’s Connect
Whether you are a small business owner who wants to show up higher on Google, a local entrepreneur who needs more leads, or someone who just wants to chat about SEO over coffee, I would love to meet you.
I am proud to call Roseburg home, and I am even prouder to help the businesses here grow, adapt, and succeed.
Let’s build something that lasts together.
