For the founder of Prompt Home Repairs, the work began long before he ever picked up a tool.

He grew up in a hard home.
Then a group home.
Then a chance encounter changed everything.

“I met a realtor who flipped houses in California. He showed me the basics.
Contractors taught me even more. Especially the ones who knew how to work on older homes.”

That was the beginning.
He was eighteen.
Hungry to learn.
Ready to build a better life.

And he did.

A Path Built By Hand

He apprenticed under a contractor with more than twenty years of experience. Eventually they flipped homes together. He spent three decades learning the craft, day after day, job after job.

What did all those years teach him?

“Lead with integrity. If you make a mistake, own it. Leave the ego behind. Even after thirty years, I am still learning.”

Then life pulled him north to Oregon.
His wife.
Their first son.
A desire to raise a family somewhere safe and grounded.

Douglas County became home.
In 2012 he launched Prompt Home Repairs and never looked back.

The Hardest Part

“The biggest challenge was not the work. I understood construction. The hard part was learning how to run a business.

Legal responsibilities.”

With support from his wife and a few strong partners, he figured it out.

He knew he was meant for this long before the company existed.

“I realized it in school. I would stare out the window and wish I was working with my hands.”

One project still stays with him.
A home destroyed by fire.

“We restored the home to its original shape. The family moved back in. They finally felt they had a home again.”

🌮 Local Business Spotlight: Don Pepe’s Mexican Taqueria

If you’ve driven down Edenbower lately, you might’ve noticed something new tucked inside the Lil’ Pantry next to the Sinclair gas station.

That’s Don Pepe’s Mexican Taqueria.

It’s 100 percent family-owned and run by Jose Uribe, a guy who clearly knows what he’s doing. Jose already owns three other restaurants in the area, including Hacienda Vieja in Roseburg, Cottage Grove, and Drain. This new spot is his latest move to bring fresh, made-from-scratch Mexican food to Roseburg.

They’ve got daily specials, a kids’ menu, and a drive-through. You can literally fill your gas tank, hit the car wash, and grab dinner on your way home. That’s multitasking at its finest.

Right now, they’re open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., but hours might change as things settle in.
